Different Types of Binge Eating - Causes and Treatment

Of all the variety of symptoms that can accompany eating disorders, one that can be associated with several of them is the common pattern of binge eating. Whether the person restricts their food habits or not, certain mental or emotional triggers can make them begin eating excessively to the point of discomfort and sickness. There are different types of binge eating but often the episode of overeating is something that they lose control of and suffer negative consequences as a result of their behavior. The binges may occur at certain times and be more predictable such as with night eating disorder. This is a disorder in which, for whatever reason, the person feels unable to control their eating habits at night. It could happen because of insomnia or restrictive eating habits during the day. It is a type of binge eating that can affect a person's health and weight because of their uncontrolled eating.

The problems that contribute to compulsive overeating are not just the food itself; it is an obsession with food as an emotional escape from circumstances of life. For the people that eat large portions and snack often, they can admit to knowing that they eat not out of hunger but out of boredom, depression or just the taste of food. This can be a cycle that this difficult for them to really escape without professional help. They have become so dependent on food to ease their nerves and stress that they do not know how to function without it. They see food not as a source of survival but as something that they want all the time.

Whatever type of binge disorder a person might have, their need to binge is usually a kind of coping mechanism that helps them to escape from other problems. With eating disorders like bulimia, compulsive overeating or night eating disorder, it is not just a matter of an obsession with food; there are other psychological issues at hand that are not being addressed. Traumatic events of the past or problems with abuse can trigger any kind of eating disorder. In order to treat their binging problems the person with the disorder must think of the past and try to pinpoint when and why their issues with food began to occur. Once they understand exactly why they behave in this way then they might be more likely to think before they engage in binging behavior. The more time they spend facing their emotional problems head on instead of escaping through food they less they are going to binge eat.

Information On The Human Papilloma Virus And Its Treatment

Human papilloma virus (HPV) treatments require more than a passable knowledge on the background of the disease, what can be done to cure it or prevent it, and what are the possible complications that could arise should there be a subsequent infection. It is the skin membrane that gets the brunt of the attack of the HPV, and it is commonly manifested among the sexually active crowd. Most of the many recognized varieties (there are over a hundred of them, according to doctors) of the human papilloma virus are considered to be harmless to human skin. On the other hand, warts are the most common manifestations of the few varieties that are considered to be harmful. Unfortunately, some of these warts could even lead to cancer.

The human papilloma virus' effects will most often be found in the parts of the body where the skin comes in close contact with the skin of someone who already has the virus. These will include the face, the mouth, hands, feet, and the private part - which are the areas with the highest cases on record. The manifestations often differ between men and women. Men start having warts developing on their penis, whereas women experience severe cases of viral infection. It has become a requirement for women to have regular cervical checks as well as pap tests. This is as a precaution against HPV and cervical cancer. Anyone who contracts the infection, or even under suspicion of having it, should immediately look for treatment.

Understanding how one contracts the viral disease is as a good place to start the treatment process as any other. Giving the affected person the possible options of how the condition came to be, especially those who have a faint idea of how they got infected, will help them come to terms with the situation. In this way, the treatment would also be more efficient. Indirect contact could also give rise to this infection, meaning a person can contract HPV if he makes use of certain items that are owned or used by someone who has the HPV infection already. There are rare cases, too, of children having HPV, acquiring them when they were born.

But the most talked about issue that is most associated with HPV spreading and becoming rampant is the issue on sexual relations and interactions. The use of protection during sex does not completely eliminate the possibility of the virus spreading. The common symptom related to Human Papilloma Virus is the growth of warts on the skin.

As stated many cases of the infection will go unnoticed meaning the HPV will not have any symptoms showing. It is an immediate reaction to think of genital warts transmitted through sexual intercourse when the word HPV is mentioned. It is also normal to see skin warts pop up in some cases in conspicuous areas of the skin, such as legs, arms, and even the face. Skin warts are more easily transferable because simple contact can have them transmitted.

The best way to treat this condition is to focus on prevention. But HPV can take place no matter how careful or prudent the individual is. When that happens, the assistance and vigilance of a doctor would be necessary. A cure for human papilloma virus is yet to be discovered. Doctors say that less than 10% will have adverse cases with the viral illness. On the other hand, the rest would not even have the disadvantage of going through the symptoms associated with the disease. Instead, the body will combat the infection itself until such time that it is completely cured.

Prostate Treatment: Best Ways To Tackle The Problem

In the condition of an enlarged prostate, the flow of urine is blocked, as the prostate cells multiply gradually and exert pressure on the urethra. Because of this, the bladder now has to push the urine forcefully out of the urethra. As this condition worsens, the muscles of the bladder may become thicker and overly sensitive. During this stage, the bladder muscle starts to contract even with small amounts of urine, which causes the frequent urination. The muscle becomes overly narrowed and thus does not allow the bladder to become completely empty. You can find effective prostate treatment that targets the most popular symptoms.

Some of the common symptoms of an enlarged prostate include -

· Slow urination

· Difficulty in starting the urination

· Frequent urination

· Incomplete emptying of bladder

· Strain during urination

· Dribbling of urine

· The stream of urination is intermittent

· Frequent urination during the night

It is always recommended that men with these above mentioned symptoms should see the doctor immediately and find the best prostate treatment. There are a range of treatments for this condition. You can take medication, go for surgery in advanced cases or opt for less or minimally invasive surgical procedures. This treatment is heavily influenced by your general health conditions and age. As a person ages the kind of treatment varies. Many of the less invasive treatment are considered as beneficial as, they allow the patient to recover quickly and there are fewer side effects. For people with urinary retention, or bothersome symptoms, doctors suggest that medication is best bypassed. To have relief from such a condition, a less invasive surgery is recommended.

There are many herbal alternatives for prostate enlargement. These are widely tested and found to have promising results. Serenoa Repens is found to have good effect on prostate treatment. Herbal alternatives show results slowly and are known to reduce the enlarged size of the prostate. Many traditional drugs for this treatment too have herbal base. These supplements should always be taken under the guidance of a doctor.

Heat therapies are also quite beneficial for treating this condition. Heat is delivered through the urethra under a local anesthetic. This treatment is a quick process and ensures fast recovery. Heat is usually applied through microwave therapy, electro vaporization or laser therapy. Surgical therapy includes transurethral resection, Open Prostatectomy or transurethral incision of the prostate. This condition is completely treatable and the choice of treatment depends upon the consulting doctor and the severity of the condition.

Steatohepatitis Causes, Symptoms, and Treatment Options

Steotohepatitis is the inflammation of the liver due to the over accumulation of fat in the liver. This disease is also known as the fatty liver acid disease and is common amongst alcoholics. It is also frequently observed among obese persons and those who have diabetes and other metabolic syndromes. The accumulation of fat in the liver is caused by drinking too much alcohol and eating too much fatty foods. However, there are also cases where a person who is diagnosed with steotohepatitis has not consumed a lot of alcohol or fat laden food, and who is neither obese nor diabetic. There are two types of steatohepatitis, namely alcoholic steatohepatitis and non-alcoholic steatohepatitis.

Non-Alcoholic Steatohepatitis

Non-alcoholic steatohepatitis or NASH is a rare disease because while most people have fat in their liver, most do not show signs of their liver swelling, and yet in certain individuals the fat causes the liver to swell. The reason why this happens is still unknown, but some doctors theorized that this may be due to the genetic makeup or that the person is diabetic or obese. Another possible cause may be high cholesterol levels or other metabolic problems. Most people suffering from NASH are between 40 and 50 years old, but there are cases where kids are diagnosed with NASH.

Unfortunately, there is no specific way to diagnose NASH. To know whether a person has NASH, he has to go to a doctor or a specialist to undergo an abdominal ultrasound, a scan, a MRI or even a biopsy. The symptoms can only be seen when the disease is already in advanced stages. Also, NASH can progress and develop into cirrhosis or fibrosis in the liver which is life threatening and irreversible. So, it is better to detect the disease in earlier stages so it can be treated immediately, so that further advancement of the disease can be avoided.

Alcoholic Steatohepatitis

Alcoholic steatohepatitis is a liver disease caused by too much consumption of alcohol. The alcohol kills the cells in the liver thereby destroying the function of the liver as well. It is common among people who drink everyday for five years or longer. The kind of alcohol is irrelevant; instead the purity of alcohol is the culprit. Actually a 60 to 80 ml of pure alcohol per day for men and 40 to 50 ml of pure alcohol per day for women is toxic to the body. Also more women develop alcoholic steatohepatits than men.

There are three types of alcoholic steatohepatitis. The first type is alcoholic fatty liver, where the liver is enlarged, firm and has turned into a pale yellow color. The second type is alcoholic hepatitis, where fibrosis is observed in the liver. There is also an inflammation caused by the hepatitis virus and the liver feels tender to the touch. The third type is alcoholic cirrhosis, the end stage liver disease where lumps have formed in the liver so that is can no longer function normally. Most people suffering from alcoholic cirrhosis have a life expectancy of only one to three years.

Steatohepatitis Symptoms

People suffering from non-alcoholic steatohepatitis can exhibit symptoms like jaundice or yellowing of the skin. They can also exhibit easy bruising, swelling of the lower abdomen, itching skin, poor memory or confusion and vomiting of blood. However, these symptoms can only be observed when NASH is already in its advanced stage.

On the other hand, a person with alcoholic steatohepatitis also exhibits nausea, vomiting, jaundice, swelling and tenderness in the abdomen. However symptoms like fever and encephalopathy is unique to alcoholic steatohepatitis. Encephalopathy is a condition where a person experience confusion, altered consciousness and even coma. Also steatohepatitits can increase blood pressure which may cause sudden bleeding. This can be life threatening when not diagnosed immediately.

Steatohepatitis Grading

Steatohepatits has three grades: mild, moderate and severe. It is graded according to the amount of fat in a single cell. When the accumulation of fat in the cell is big enough to distort the cytoplasm and the nucleus, the event is called macro-vesicular steatosis, while the opposite is called micro-vesicular steatosis. Mild grade steatohepatitis is characterized by the presence of macro-vesicular steatosis. Also the hepatocyte - the liver cell, exhibits occasional swelling. Moderate grade on the other hand, has micro-vesicular and macro-vesicular steatosis. And the hepatocyte exhibits obvious swelling which means the liver is inflamed. In the severe grade, both micro-vesicular and macro-vesicular steatosis is present in more than 66% of the liver cells. Swelling hepatocyte is dominant and the liver exhibits fibrosis and chronic inflammation.

Steatohepatitis Treatment Options

As of now, there is still no definitive treatment for steatohepatitis. Most treatment includes dieting, exercise and lifestyle changes. For non-alcoholic steatohepatitis caused by obesity, diabetes, high cholesterol, high pressure and other metabolic syndrome, the treatment is done by curing the underlying disease. If a person is obese or has high cholesterol, that person is treated with a diet regime and an exercise program. The treatment is designed to lower the fat in the liver and thereby eliminating steatohepatitis. To hasten the removal of fat in the liver, antiglycemic drugs can also be used. NASH is difficult to diagnose and if not treated immediately, can develop into cirrhosis.

The first treatment for alcoholic steatohepatitis is the elimination of alcohol consumption. Most patients diagnosed with alcoholic steatohepatitis are just in the early stage so it is easy to treat. However, if the patient is already in the advanced stage there are no drugs that can cure the disease. Liver transplant is the last treatment option for those who are already in the end stage.

What People Undergoing Hepatitis C Treatment Should Be Wary About

There are several precautions that need to be taken by people who are undergoing hepatitis C treatment. Hepatitis C is, at is core, an illness of the liver. For a long time, we've only been aware about hepatitis A and hepatitis B. But then, there was another variety of hepatitis that would present as neither hepatitis A nor hepatitis B. For a while, the world has settled on calling it simply as non-A non-B hepatitis, until it was finally referred to as Hepatitis C. You might think that only the liver will be affected since it is the one attacked. However, remember that the liver pretty much plays a major role in the body, which means the symptoms could be spread out all over the body. If anything is to blame for this illness, it would be the HCV, which is the shortened name for the Hepatitis C virus. So if you hope to combat this disease, you would have to resort to the use of anti-viral agents. Whatever treatment has been chosen, it is still important to observe a few precautions.

As a precaution, avoiding alcohol and alcoholic drinks should be on top of the list. It is also important that the diagnosis for hepatitis C had been made properly before you choose any treatment. Everyone who has been diagnosed with hepatitis C are automatically told to avoid alcohol. That is because alcohol can tax their already ill liver. Medication for hepatitis C also tends to be very potent that they would also have some effect on the liver itself. Drinking alcohol will actually only make things worse instead of cure you.

Another precaution would include avoiding those medications that do nothing but tax your liver. If you are going to fill a prescription, you should mention the fact that you are undergoing hepatitis C treatment. Since you already have a burdened and faulty liver, make sure you do not add to its pain and misery with too taxing drugs.

The third precaution would require your cooperation with your physician. Drink your medication according to the prescription. Your main order of business would be getting rid of these persistent viruses.
Being prepared is a good thing, so it is best if the patient would expect to experience some symptoms of the flu during their hepatitis C treatment. This is a common side effect of hepatitis C drugs, affecting approximately 50 percent of the people who are put on such drugs.

Fifthly, people who are undergoing treatment for hepatitis C are advised to beware of the fact that they may experience emotional difficulties. Studies show that 30 per cent of people constantly administered with hepatitis C antiviral drugs are more emotional. If you are aware of what to expect, you will be able to get a grip on your emotions. Of course, not all emotional problems occurring during the period of time when a person undergoes this treatment may be attributable to the medications being taken. But if doesn't have a history of such problems, and he or she starts experiencing them up initiating hepatitis C treatment, they could indeed be attributable to the medications used to the treat the disease.
