Emotional Eating Is Not Just About Eating When You Feel Emotional

If you are someone who has been on a diet your whole life then you probably do not have a loving functional relationship with food. You probably know more about nutrition than some professionals, however, you just cannot seem to release yourself from the obsession of food and body. Through my practice I have seen common mindset issues, which often sabotage even the most diligent efforts.

Dieter's Mindset #1: "Eating something just because it is healthy. "

This may sound like the ideal plan to lose weight however, it often backfires! When you eat something "just because it is healthy", you may be positively reinforcing some negative core beliefs like, "I don't deserve to enjoy my food" or "I deserve to suffer".

You may unconsciously think you have to suffer because you have this over weight body. In reality, you have the over-weight body because you are suffering.

Although you really do love food, and why not, it is a good thing and it does keep the body alive; often when you eat there is a blanket of shame and tension attached to every bite. This emotional charge often leads to feelings of insecurity and acting out in sabotaging ways, like mindless grazing.

Dieter's Mindset #2: "Ignoring or not listening to your body's natural hunger signals."

Often times, when I interview a client for the first time they tell me they cannot understand why they are over weight because they really aren't that hungry, most of the time.

When you do not have a healthy relationship with food; i.e. one that is NOT laced with shame and frustration, you will try to ignore the hunger signals in an attempt to control your appetite because you are trying to "be good". This behavior allows for an unhealthy length of time to lapse between meals or worse, you may skip meals altogether.

This is usually an attempt to trying to get away with the fact that the body needs food. It is crucial to come to terms with the fact that the body needs to eat in order for the mind and body to function optimally.

It is always most effective to develop a balanced rhythm of eating. Eating every three to four hours will balance the blood sugar and therefore set up the natural conditions for the body to release weight.

Dieter's Mindset #3 "Not eating enough food during a meal"

Once again, this behavior stems from having a dysfunctional relationship you're your food and body.

As a life long dieter you may have actually become afraid and maybe even very angry at food, as food has become the necessary evil.

Mealtime denotes a certain level of conscious eating; therefore when you are more consciousness you can fool yourself into thinking that you eat like a slim person. This tactic will backfire in either of two ways.

The first way this backfires is you will unconsciously give yourself permission to eat empty calories later on. The second way being, there is never a sense of closure on a meal. In this scenario, food becomes the open-ended focal point, thereby leading to even more obsession and frustration.

In contrast, if you would fill up on real food, while giving yourself permission to enjoy every bite, and feeding yourself from a place of self-love and self-care, it often leaves no room for empty calories.

The sooner you participate in a mature relationship with food, the quicker you will release yourself from the food prison and begin to commit to a healthy lifestyle which will ultimately give you the body you desire.

In short, the quicker you can release what you think you know and focus more on what you feel in your body, the sooner you will create the body of your dreams.

Things Everyone Must Know About Trigeminal Neuralgia

If we are talking about the condition called Trigeminal neuralgia, we are talking about a neuropathic condition. Unlike other health conditions that exist in the body, the patient could not have Trigeminal neuralgia without him or her knowing about it. It is so painful that anyone afflicted of it is likely to know that there is something wrong straightaway. However, detecting the development of this disease from its early stages is not as easy or swift. Once the disease has progressed to the stage where excruciating pain is felt by the patient, then there is no ignoring it.

It is worth mentioning that trigeminal neuralgia goes by (or rather, is referred to by) several names. One such alternative name is 'tic doulourex.' Of course there is also the name prosopalgia. Yet another one is Fothergill's disease. The name of the condition, Trigeminal neuralgia, is derived from that part of the body that it affects, which is the trigeminal nerve. You might have noticed the use of the prefix 'tri', meaning it has something to do with the number three. It refers to the three branches of the trigeminal nerve. They are the mandibular branch, the maxillary branch, and the ophthalmic branch. If one or two of the branches become affected, Trigeminal neuralgia arises. The same is true when all three branches become affected. Since the nerves are found on the face, that is where the pain manifests itself. Aside from the eye and ear regions, even the nose region and the jawline feel the pain. The forehead, too, is often affected.

Statistically, it has been observed that tic doulourex affects women more frequently than it does affect men. Both men and women can get this condition; it certainly does not choose specific genders. However, women tend to get it more than the males.

The age of the person affected is also considered as another risk factor. The progression of this condition might have started at a very early age, but the manifestation (the pain) only occurs once they go beyond the age of 50. But this is not to say that it is inconceivable for younger people to suffer from this particular illness. Some diagnosis for Trigeminal neuralgia have been made among young children, some of them even younger than 5 years old. But statistically speaking, for the most part, this is a condition whose symptoms tend to be experienced by people who are getting on in years: after the age of 50.

When you treat Trigeminal neuralgia, you have to know that it entails a number of things. On top of the list would be having a handle on the excruciating pain. Trying to correct the neuropathy would come next. It is a daunting task, but nevertheless very rewarding once it is done right. You would be able to correct neuropathy more successfully if diagnosis has been made early and it has been immediately treated right after diagnosis. In many cases, treatment of Trigeminal neuralgia is done by way of administering medications and drugs. But surgery is considered by many to be a more permanent treatment, so that is what they choose.

Learn About Chagas Disease Symptoms

Most people might not be familiar with Chagas disease but they might recognize the disease after hearing its common term, the "kissing bug". The disease is endemic in Latin America and it affects almost 10 million people. It affects other countries even if it is not endemic in their place such as the United States and Spain. It is worth noting that the large part of the disease incidence occurs in rural areas where the breeding and feeding ground of the vector insect are available.

Trypanosome cruzi is the causative agent of Chagas disease. It is a parasitic protozoan that lives inside different animals such as raccoons, squirrels, mice, wood rats, and opossums. But it is also found out that even domestic animals such as dogs, cats, and cows can also be a reservoir for T. cruzi. As a result, the disease is even made more rampant.

The carrier of T. cruzi is the kissing bug. The bug feeds both in animals and humans. When it sucks blood from an infected host, the kissing bug can transfer T.cruzi to other animals. But when it comes to humans, the kissing bug is attracted to bite on the face of its victim then after it is done in sucking blood; it will defecate on the fresh wound it made, thus passing on the parasite.

Signs and Symptoms

There are two phases of Chagas disease in human. The first one is the acute phase. This may last for many weeks or even months. The acute phase may last for too long because it is asymptomatic at first. Even when the disease's manifestations start to surface, it is only mild and most will just ignore how they feel. The following are some of the manifestations of acute phase.

1. Inflamed face originating from the bite site
2. Pyrosis (fever)
3. Malaise
4. Itchy or non-itchy rash
5. Body pain
6. Headache, nausea, vomiting
7. Diarrhea
8. Splenomegaly (enlargement of the spleen)
9. Liver enlargement

The acute phase commonly subsides by itself and the body is capable of fighting the disease. But sometimes, other factors might lead to the chronic phase. If the body is already weak when the Chagas disease develops, there is a high tendency that the affected person with proceed to chronic phase. Signs and symptoms may include:

1. Myocardial inflammation or enlargement
2. Arrhythmia
3. Heart failure
4. Cardiac arrest
5. Enlargement of the esophagus
6. Dysphagia
7. Enlarged colon

When the disease is not resolved promptly, it can lead to death. Every year, around 20,000 deaths are caused by Chagas disease.

Chagas disease symptoms are serious malady that affects millions of people most especially in the Latin America. Chagas disease pictures can help in gaining more understanding with its manifestations.

How does bad breath relate to the stomach? The foods we eat enter the stomach where they're partially digested and their nutrients are sent to the appropriate location in the body. Aiding in the digestion of food are bacteria. Unfortunately, not all the bacteria in the stomach help in digestion and these bad bacteria could cause the issue of bad breath from the stomach.

Missing Meals

Missing meals could possibly result in acid reflux. When this occurs, the person could experience bad breath. Therefore, it might be in your best interest not to miss any meals.

Bacterial Issues

Helicobacter pylori is a bacteria found in people who suffer from stomach ulcers. Bad breath from the stomach has been linked to Helicobacter Pylori. There needs to be more good bacteria than bad ones if the stomach is going back in balance. And the result could be not-so-good-breath. Try eating some yogurt or some other probiotic to correct the problem regarding bad bacteria. They have good bacteria in them and will help to eliminate the bad bacteria in your stomach.

Difficulties Digesting Food

Certain foods can be difficult to digest and these foods can cause stomach issues which may bring about mouth odor. The liver may get some of the undigested portions of food and give you back terrible breath.

Acid Reflux and Heartburn

Heartburn takes place because of the acid in the stomach. The acid could also cause unpleasant mouth odor if it rises to the throat. GERD (Gastointestinal Reflux Disease) can bring about the exact problem as drinks that have caffeine in them like soda and coffee can cause stomach acid to rise up the esophagus.

What People Undergoing Hepatitis C Treatment Should Be Wary About

There are several precautions that need to be taken by people who are undergoing hepatitis C treatment. Hepatitis C is, at is core, an illness of the liver. For a long time, we've only been aware about hepatitis A and hepatitis B. But then, there was another variety of hepatitis that would present as neither hepatitis A nor hepatitis B. For a while, the world has settled on calling it simply as non-A non-B hepatitis, until it was finally referred to as Hepatitis C. You might think that only the liver will be affected since it is the one attacked. However, remember that the liver pretty much plays a major role in the body, which means the symptoms could be spread out all over the body. If anything is to blame for this illness, it would be the HCV, which is the shortened name for the Hepatitis C virus. So if you hope to combat this disease, you would have to resort to the use of anti-viral agents. Whatever treatment has been chosen, it is still important to observe a few precautions.

As a precaution, avoiding alcohol and alcoholic drinks should be on top of the list. It is also important that the diagnosis for hepatitis C had been made properly before you choose any treatment. Everyone who has been diagnosed with hepatitis C are automatically told to avoid alcohol. That is because alcohol can tax their already ill liver. Medication for hepatitis C also tends to be very potent that they would also have some effect on the liver itself. Drinking alcohol will actually only make things worse instead of cure you.

Another precaution would include avoiding those medications that do nothing but tax your liver. If you are going to fill a prescription, you should mention the fact that you are undergoing hepatitis C treatment. Since you already have a burdened and faulty liver, make sure you do not add to its pain and misery with too taxing drugs.

The third precaution would require your cooperation with your physician. Drink your medication according to the prescription. Your main order of business would be getting rid of these persistent viruses.
Being prepared is a good thing, so it is best if the patient would expect to experience some symptoms of the flu during their hepatitis C treatment. This is a common side effect of hepatitis C drugs, affecting approximately 50 percent of the people who are put on such drugs.

Fifthly, people who are undergoing treatment for hepatitis C are advised to beware of the fact that they may experience emotional difficulties. Studies show that 30 per cent of people constantly administered with hepatitis C antiviral drugs are more emotional. If you are aware of what to expect, you will be able to get a grip on your emotions. Of course, not all emotional problems occurring during the period of time when a person undergoes this treatment may be attributable to the medications being taken. But if doesn't have a history of such problems, and he or she starts experiencing them up initiating hepatitis C treatment, they could indeed be attributable to the medications used to the treat the disease.
