Understanding Kidney Stone Causes

Substances in the kidney are normally excreted through urination. However, the reduced volume of urine and other factors cause these substances to stick together and turn into a stone. Below is a list of the most identified causes relating to this condition.

Low water intake. When you do not drink enough water, substances in the kidney may not be flushed out completely.Poor diet. Anti-inflammatory and narcotics may be prescribed to alleviate the pain. Other medications may also be required to speed up the passage of kidney stone. For kidney stones that will not exit on their own, a medical procedure known as lithotripsy may be necessary. This is done by using shock waves to disintegrate them into smaller pieces.

Prevention

Prevention is always better than cure. There are basically 3 ways to keep them from forming drinking plenty of water, low oxalate diet, and regular exercise. It should be noted however, that not all types of fluid will do the work. Fruit juices, sodas, and iced teas may make the condition worse and exacerbate the problem.
